About Chatter

Chatter is the open microblogging platform for Dimension 7. We believe that the distance between having a thought and sharing it with your community should be measured in seconds, not filing deadlines. Whether you’re reporting a gravity anomaly in your district, reviewing the new menu at your local grill, or simply observing that Tuesdays have been unusually long this quarter — Chatter gives your words a signal, and your signal a reach.

Our Story

In 2017, Chatter co-founder Pell Grennick spent forty minutes on hold with the Municipal Gravity Office to report a fluctuation in his Ossivale apartment that had rotated his kitchen ninety degrees overnight. He was told to submit Form GR-7 to the Bureau of Directional Standards, which required two neighbor signatures — one of whom had to be currently grounded — and had a six-week processing window. By the time the form was reviewed, the fluctuation had self-corrected, his complaint had been downgraded to a “comment,” and the Bureau had reclassified the event as “ambient architectural expression.”

He mentioned this to Soraya Veld over lunch at a café on Kettle Row. Veld, a former data systems analyst at the Municipal Temporal Office, had spent three years watching critical community updates travel through official channels so slowly that incident reports occasionally arrived after the incidents they described had resolved, been reclassified, and — in one documented case — apologized.

“What if,” she said, “people could just say short things, in public, where other people could read them? Without filing anything?”

Chatter launched four months later from a shared office above a computer coolant refill station on Kettle Row. The first chit ever posted read: “Is this thing on.” The second read: “The gravity in my apartment is sideways again and I don’t know who else to tell.” That one got two hundred likes.

Our Values

Signal Over Noise

Every voice matters, but not every voice needs to be loud. Chatter is built to amplify what’s relevant to your zone, your community, and your specific gravitational orientation.

Transparency

We publish our content moderation guidelines, our dimensional routing policies, and our quarterly platform integrity reports. We believe you should know exactly how your chit gets from your device to someone else’s feed, including the parts that pass through unindexed zones.

Community First

Chatter exists because communities needed a faster way to share what matters. We serve the citizens, businesses, agencies, and intermittently corporeal residents of Dimension 7, and our product decisions reflect their needs — not quarterly revenue targets. We don’t have quarterly revenue. We have quarterly audits. They are different and worse.

Resilience

Platforms go down. Drift events happen. Occasionally, a zone gets temporarily reclassified and every chit in it has to be re-routed. We build for the 98.4% of the time everything works normally, and for the 1.6% of the time it doesn’t. We do not discuss the remaining margin.
